Ponies in the Community

Many people we are sure, will be familiar with Pets as Therapy, the organisation which uses dogs and cats to visit people in hospitals, care homes etc

WELL!

at REMUS  MEMORIAL HORSE SANCTUARY we have taken this a step further.

We do not know of another Organisation that uses larger animals to visit the sick and elderly, schools, groups etc. Our tiny Shetland ponies pictured above during a visit really seem to enjoy the experience as much as the people they visit.

All of us have been amazed since starting the scheme at the way the ponies have been welcomed on our various visits, no one witnessing the reaction of often sick and elderly people or  children who do not normally have the opportunity to see large animals (well! in Rosie and Ted’s case – not very large) could possibly doubt the value of this work, it is not about raising money, we do not charge,  it is only about bringing happiness to  people less fortunate than ourselves, we are very proud of this scheme and would welcome more invitations from organisations who think that their residents, children etc would enjoy an afternoon in “the company of animals”.

If you would like Rosie and Ted to visit your organisation, please do get in touch and we, Rosie and Ted will do our best to oblige. See our poster for more information.
