Every little bit helps

Lillian Leggett

My name is Lillian Leggett and I have been a volunteer with REMUS for about six years now, having visited them on an Open Day.

The largest animal I have ever had to deal with previously was a cat and look at me now!! ( In the photograph I'm the one with the glasses ) but sadly our lovely gentle BUTCH is no longer with us, but he along with our other friends, horses, donkeys, sheep, goats and even our new girl, Piggie, have shown me that they all respond to loving care or in Butch's case a bucket of bananas as well!!

Being a Volunteer here has shown me the worst side of human nature with its mindless cruelty to animals that have no defences and the best of human nature from the people who spend all their lives fighting to give animals a decent life, to the children who give up their free time to come and volunteer to work at Remus.

They never complain and last but not least the fundraisers, always willing to try and raise money to support the Sanctuary and at the same time raise people's awareness of what happens to defenceless animals in this Country.

I'm really glad I visited REMUS on that Open DAY
