Happy August Birthdays to Our Wonderful Residents!

This August, we’re celebrating six very special birthdays here at Remus Horse Sanctuary – a joyful reminder of just how far our rescued animals have come. Each one has overcome heartbreaking beginnings to enjoy peace, friendship, and dedicated care at the Sanctuary. Join us in marking their special day!

Wesley and Spencer Turn 15 on 7 August

Wesley and Spencer were rescued as foals – just four or five months old – after being seen knee-deep in mud with nothing to eat but whole carrots. They were weak, underweight, and badly treated. Thankfully, they recovered with our care and were welcomed into the donkey herd, where Hovis Donkey took them under his wing. Now, they are healthy, happy, and full of life.

Coco and William Turn 17 on 1 August

Coco and William were found tied to a horsebox at an unauthorised Traveller’s Fair – pitifully thin and shut down from neglect. It took over a year before they were healthy and confident enough to play. Today, they’re thriving and inseparable, enjoying life in the donkey herd and clearly loving every moment together.

Flint Turns 8 on 15 August

This handsome boy had an appalling start to life. Alongside his companion Marmite, Flint was kept in a cage for much of his early years – severely underweight and infested with worms and lice. Since arriving at Remus, Flint has been able to enjoy his freedom and now lives happily with his field mate, safe and well at last.

Rosie Turns 37 on 29 August

Once forced to pull heavy carts despite suffering with arthritis and laminitis, beautiful little Rosie has faced more than her fair share of struggles. She now lives safely with us, receiving expert care for Equine Metabolic Syndrome and Cushing’s Disease. Rosie’s gentle nature shines through – especially when she’s with her best friend, Shetland pony Dandy.
