Recycling

Recycling for charity raises a lot of money for the Sanctuary, the things other people have finished with are an important source of income for us. We can take many of these items directly at the Sanctuary but have also paired up with a variety of specialist organisations whereby you can post items to them or even have items collected from your home.

Some of the items we can recycle include:

  • Used postage stamps
  • Foreign or obsolete coins and notes
  • Old UK coins and notes
  • Mobile phones, cameras or gaming equipment
  • Broken jewellery
  • Old used printer ink cartridges
  • Clothes and accessories

Please send any of the above items marked for the attention of Joy Williams at the Sanctuary, or drop them off when you visit.

Additional Ways to Recycle

As we’ve said above, our volunteer Joy Williams can pretty much recycle anything. However, if you prefer to deal with an organisation we have some alternatives below:

For recycling your home or specifically office printer ink cartridges directly with Recycle4Charity, please click here.

For recycling jewellery, cameras, mobile phones and gaming equipment directly with Recycling For Good Causes, please click here.

For recycling your leftover or unwanted foreign currency directly with Leftover Currency, please click here.

For recyling clothes and accessories directly with iCollectClothes please click here. There are various companies offering this service, however, we work with icollectclothes as they are so professional and reliable and last year we raised just short of £20,000 from the clothes they collected.

We can also raise money for the animals through the sale of:

  • Good quality china or glass
  • Stamp albums and collections
  • War memorabilia including badges and medals
  • Unwanted gifts
  • Any good saleable items

Please think of us when you are clearing out. In addition, you can bring any of these items when you visit us for an Open Day or Afternoon Tea, or telephone to arrange an appointment on 01277 356191.

Please do not drop any jumble or bric-a-brac etc at 2 Mellish Way.

Unwanted Tack

We can also use unwanted tack including rugs, lead ropes, etc.  If there is anything that we cant use then we can sell it to raise funds for the animals.

Please post us your items for recycling to: Joy Williams at Remus Horse Sanctuary, Little Farm, Buttsbury, Near Ingatestone, Essex CM4 9NZ.  Or alternatively, drop them in while you’re passing, we’d love to show you around the Sanctuary!
