Dickie came in with Rosie and Harvey in 2004, all from the same market that we were investigating. He was to be sent for slaughter for meat at just 1 year old, a baby. He had been drugged to make him appear placid.
Dickie was very quiet and withdrawn for some time after arriving with us at Remus, he was very ill but with veterinary care and careful nursing by our staff he pulled through, but remains to this day a rather fragile pony. Although he recovered, he has been diagnosed as having very weak lungs, which means he is prone to chest infections and breathing problems, and sadly, may not make old bones. He’s a dear little chap. Dickie suffers from severe Laminitis and we have to be very careful with his diet.
